Executive Produced by Obed Emvula – member of the International Academy of Television Arts (Emmys’), KATUTIRA follows a group characters experiencing the gravity of living in a township. Ex-convict Dangi has to deal with living a law-abiding life, an extramarital son and an old flame who his wife doesn’t know about. Gangster Shivago explores a new market to sell his drugs and Kondja, a teenager in a wheelchair who helps street kids, falls in love for the first time. Their paths intertwine and their lives collide in both hopeful and brutal ways.
We developed a product placement strategy which invited leading brands to be part of the film’s commercial success. We managed to solicit few brands to inject funds towards the development and launch of the film. In addition we formulated a public relations plan for the film which covered pre to the theatrical release. We planned and coordinated a series of interviews with the cast members and ensured their presence on national newspapers and leading broadcasters.
Through product placement and the film’s launch we managed to bring KFC, REDBULL, NAMIB MILLS and ENERGY FM on board. The film became the highly anticipated local film in recent years. Currently it is being entered for the Academy Awards.
